What makes West Roxbury great?
By David Bugbee
Very low crime rate.
Easy commute into Boston, either by car or the commuter rail, yet far enough away to actually feel like a suburb.
A very strong sense of community, somewhat like South Boston and Charlestown. That might have something to do with its large population of Irish Catholics.
Home of Catholic Memorial High School, which has won the state hockey championship several (5, 6, ?) times in a row.
Home of Bunker and Praught Little League Fields, which have all the amenities, e.g., lights, electronic scoreboards, concession stands, batting cages, etc. I'd put those fields up against any in the state, if not the country.
