Charlie Flynns
Tremont Street (Theater District)

If we are looking for a true dive WHY was Flynn's overlooked? The Tam is the frickin' Ritz Towers compared to Flynns. The crowd is motley: Townies, Suffolk and Emerson College students, or whoever is too drunk to get served at The Tam. The dart board's on the dance floor, the hole in the women's restroom floor was patched up this summer, and only one of the ceiling fans wobbles now, so Flynns has my vote for the BEST dive in all of Boston. How could it be overlooked? -- J.K.F.

I agree. I've been in some of the worst bars in Boston and beyond, but I've never seen one that can hold a candle to Flynn's. The bartender even has one eye and a limp. I was afraid to sit down. Are the bullet holes still in the door?

Best bar in Boston, by far.
Great beer.

love the bar, the bartenders, the juke-box
and the women's restroom down the stairs and to the left....
Flynns is the reason I miss Boston.

You can go anywhere you want on Earth and you will NEVER meet a staff as genuinely nice as this bar. They deserve more than I ever tipped them when I was in Boston. This place had charm and the occasional douchebag but that's ok

The absolute best bar for young pretty frosh w/ horrible fake id's, or no id's at all. Two people got kicked out for smoking crack in the back when i went there my first time, and the bartender smoked with me in the back the last time. What a great place! That was in '99 glad to see things have not changed!

First of all, Charlie Flynn's symbolizes Boston: Tough, hardworking, faithful, and dedicated. Having hung out there for four fun years with Bob jr. , i can tell you that that bar is 100% dedicated to All Boston Sports (i.e. check out the photos of the owner playing golf with Larry Bird. And leave jerry's limp alone-- That guy was in the Mob for years before he was sent to "college". Don't tip him, he'll cut off your ear
