Ron's among those who will protest in front of the old Gaiety Theatre on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing on Thursday to try to save it from the wrecking ball:
The Gaiety Theatre, later known as the Publix, is an old downtown vaudeville, burlesque, and movie house which is threatened with imminent demolition. Kensington Investment Co. wants to demolish it in order to build an apartment/condominium tower. In the process they have stretched Boston's zoning laws to the breaking point, and violated the letter and spirit of the Midtown Cultural District zone.
