Bizarro Boston

Compiled by Adam Gaffin

Enough with Paul Revere and Old North Church already! And how many times can you go to Quincy Market before going insane? "Oh, look, Muffy, they have a Gap here, just like home!"

If you're starting to feel that way, cheer up - there's a lot more to Boston than statues of dead white guys on horses and chain stores in old brick buildings. Take, for example, the site of the Great Molasses Flood of 1919. Or the book bound in human skin. Or the site where a local man used his mouth to catch a grape dropped from 60 stories. In other words, get off the Freedom Trail and take a walk on the Bizarro Trail!

Creepy-crawlies - Gypsy moths, glass fungi and giant hissing cockroaches.

Disasters - Where else have people drowned in molasses?

Harvard - There have been some strange goings-on at the World's Greatest University.

History - Things they didn't teach you in school.

True Crime - Not just your run-of-the-mill murders.

Miscellaneous - Assorted oddities, like smoots.

Fine Dining - After all that touring, you're bound to be hungry.
